Learn French for travel — for a real trip, not a phrase list
Travel French is not “où est la gare” on a loop. It is using the line, then surviving the answer that is not in the book — a pharmacy, a neighbour, a problem at the hotel.
Start before the flight if
You have dates, and you want to handle the week yourself instead of hiding behind English.
- A trip on the calendar — France or another French-speaking place
- Everyday errands, not conference French
- You want confidence more than perfect grammar

- Conversation under mild pressure if that is the trip
- A slower structured start if you are still a beginner
- Beginners welcome — from scratch is allowed
How soon to start
As soon as you know the dates. Even three or four 1 on 1 lessons change what you attempt. A month of weekly lessons is a strong default if you have it. The night before, with a PDF, is how people order in English anyway.
What we cover
Bookings, food, transport, appointments. Polite problem-solving. Salvage lines: “I don’t understand,” “can you write it,” “I have a reservation under…”. Listening to real-speed answers, not studio audio only.
Travelling with kids
Paediatric appointments, playgrounds, schools. Mention ages on the intro. For a dedicated school track, use the teen and school guides — this one stays trip-shaped.
