Orals
French school oral exams — exposé, bac, the year that counts
A school oral is not DELF B2. It is this year’s text, this year’s clock, a jury or a teacher who already knows the programme. We train that: structure, timing, a student who can start again when they freeze — not a diploma page from another track.
This is the page if
There is a date, a text, or a fear of speaking in front of the class.
- Exposé, récitation, bac français oral, or a contrôle that is spoken
- The student writes well and still blanks at the desk
- You want timed practice with one person, not a group watching
An oral-prep lesson
A timed run, a stop, a correction on the structure, a second run. Notes if the parent asked.
- Parent on the free intro
- Student alone after that unless we agree otherwise
- Homework: a short recording or outline, not a novel
Bring the actual brief
The oeuvre, the notion, the questions the teacher already asked. We outline, we time, we cut the ramble. A beautiful paragraph that overruns the clock is still a fail. English is allowed in the first minutes if panic is the wall; French is the performance.
What we do not pretend
We do not sit on the jury. We do not guarantee a mention. We make the student say a version they can recover when a question is unfair. If the goal is DELF B2, that is a different page — stay here for the school year.
Shy students
The first lesson is often quieter than the parent hoped. That is fine. We do not mock. We do not fill the silence with our own speech. The oral still has to happen; the pace is Support-shaped if that is what they need, FLS-shaped in content.
