An app is good at reminding you that French exists. It is weak at the minute you have to produce a sentence for a human. If school or Duolingo already filled your head and your mouth still will not move, the missing piece is not another module. It is a listener.

You speak from the first minutes. We correct what blocks you. You leave with sentences you can reuse this week — not a new badge.

What apps are for
Vocabulary, a daily nudge, a first map of the language. Use them between lessons if they do not replace speaking. Recognition is not the same skill as retrieval under time. The freeze happens on the second skill.
What a tutor is for
Someone waits, then makes you retry the sentence. They hear the register, the panic, the thing you always switch to English. They change the method when the worksheet was the problem. An app cannot do that. A 30-person webinar rarely does either.
You do not have to pick a mascot
